At 10 weeks, Jonathan still mainly eats and sleeps. However, he is increasingly more awake and alert which is great fun and that's when we get to know him better! I go with his flow and let him guide me. It’s been extremely rewarding thus far.

My message to new moms is that everyday gets a little bit easier. I was so in love with my baby and also full of fear since I was now responsible for another human being. In the delivery room he latched right on and started breastfeeding. I had no idea what I was doing since all the info I had learned at my breastfeeding class at the hospital vanished from my brain. I had some help from the lactation consultants at the hospital, but it was still hard. It was painful and I was so stressed that he wasn't nursing long enough on each side. Was he getting enough milk? Was I feeding him often enough? The worries were endless.

Second Time Around: Michelle’s Story

With my first child, I had a full-time baby nurse. At the time, I had my own company and couldn't afford to take maternity leave. I was so scared I was going to mess something up. I had no experience and none of my friends had babies yet. I’d never babysat and I don’t think I’d ever seen someone breastfeed. Someone recommended a baby nurse to me, and since I couldn't stay home, that seemed like the best option.
